Best Romantic London Valentine’s Day Restaurants

Bob Bob Ricard

  • 1 Upper James Street, London, W1F 9DF
  • 020 3145 1000
  • reservations@bobbobricard.com/li>

Plush, blue leather dining booths that remind you of train carriages on the Orient Express and a delightfully fine menu to boot. But it is the little eccentric touches that we love, including the ‘Press for Champagne’ buttons in each booth, the cocktail waiters taking their time to shake and pour your drinks and the dress code. The menu consists of a blend of Russian and Eastern Europe and including popular choices such as Chicken Kiev alongside borscht, Egg St. Petersburg and of course, plenty of chilled vodka.

Le Pont de la Tour

  • 36D Shad Thames, London SE1 2YE
  • 020 7403 8403
  • lepontres@danddlondon.com

You get traditional old-fashioned wining and dining at Le Pont de la Tour. Expect crisp, white tablecloths, sumptuous leather booths, décor that evokes Parisian chic and a view overlooking the Thames. There is a special Valentine’s Tasting Menu available for £90 that includes 5 courses and includes starters of caramelised artichokes, mains of dry-aged beef and desserts of classic French pastries.

Andrew Edmunds

  • 46 Lexington Street, London W1F 0LW
  • 020 7437 5708
  • reservations@andrewedmunds.com

This restaurant opened in 1985 but is considered to be part of the establishment in old Soho. With a loyal clientele, cosy booths and softly lit corners, this is ideal for setting a romantic scene. A Valentine’s Day dinner menu is available including beetroot salad, baked half lobster and rum baba and prunes for £65 each.

Roast Restaurant

  • The Floral Hall, Stoney Street, London SE1 1TL
  • 0203 00 66 111
  • www.roast-restaurant.com

Described as ‘deliciously British’, Roast Restaurant is open from Thursday 13th February to Saturday 15th February so it is perfect for those with busy schedules. For just £69 per person, you get a complimentary glass of Prosecco or bespoke Valentine’s Day cocktail on arrival followed by a special three-course meal.

The Shed

  • 122 Palace Gardens Terrace. Kensington, London, W84RT
  • 020 7229 4024
  • >theshed-restaurant.com

The Shed is owned by the Gladwin brothers and bring their ‘local and wild’ philosophy from the farm to the plate. They are offering fresh, seasonal produce in a fun atmosphere perfect for couples. For Valentine’s Day, you can order the tasting menu at £55 consisting of oysters to start, mushroom marmite éclair, beef tartare, monkfish cheeks, duck heart, and quince Tarte Tatin.

Balthazar

  • 4-6 Russell Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2B 5HZ
  • 020 3301 1155
  • >balthazarlondon.com

Balthazar is not offering a special Valentine’s day menu per se, but we love the atmosphere and think it would be a great place to experience a different style of food. It is a mix of New York décor with American service and food that compliments both. There are lots of different menus to choose from depending on the time of day you visit. But as a general guide, expect burgers, veal schnitzel, lobster spaghetti, ribeye steaks, pomme frites, bouillabaisse, onion soup and much more.
